the rain hits the snow
fighting over control
and since nobody knows
which way this stuggle will go

i'm betting on rain
because the rain is so persistent
and i'm just like the snow
weak and inconsistent

there's a bus on fire
outside a four-star hotel
and this late in boston
i'm not sure if i can tell

if everyone got out alive
because it sure looks like my heart
consumed by flame
and destined never to start

and in this heart
there are no survivors
just muscle and blood
fingernails and incisors

so i stare down that bus
wreck facing wreck
the hair standing up
at the base of my neck

and i feel sick
